On September 16th, 2020, during RTX @ Home 2020, a new RWBY game was unveiled for a 2021 release. The game, developed by was then subsequently delayed to 2022 on July 9th, 2021 during RTX @ Home 2021. In addition to that, a teaser trailer was shown, featuring pre-alpha gameplay footage and a brand new animated scene done by Rooster Teeth.
The game is being developed by WayForward, developers of the Shantae series, and produced alongside Japanese game publisher Arc System Works and Rooster Teeth. Similar to the Shantae games, RWBY Arrowfell will be a 2D sidescroller with metroidvania elements.
According to the panel at RTX @ Home 2021, the game will feature team RWBY as playable characters, will have 7 minutes of animated scenes by Rooster Teeth and have local and co-op multiplayer. Unlockable costumes will also be available for the characters.
The game is planned to be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
